Consultation
Settle in with a comfortable and open environment (this is strictly a no-judgement zone) to find out main concerns balanced with the therapist’s diagnosis.
First Cleanse
Break down dead skin cells, dirt, and make-up residue that cannot be seen by the naked eye so products can penetrate at full potential, cleansing handwork allows this step to be at full effect and prepare for the facial.
Skin Analysis
Customising the facial and home skincare routine requires meticulous skin analysis, by an experienced eye or through the lens of a machine. Here at elle, both are used.
Second Cleanse
After the barrier of superficial residue has been removed, the skin can now absorb the benefits tailored in the second cleanser and really ensure all dirt and makeup is removed from the facial pores.
Exfoliation
A favourite step for the skin, exfoliating effectively desquamates hardened skin cells by dissolving the "glue" that binds your dead cells to the epidermis, slowly reveal brighter, smoother, more even-looking skin; and clears the way for ingredients to penetrate more deeply.
Hot Towel
Hot towels are used to wipe away excess product left on the skin, this tranquilizing step is uniquely infused with first-class essential oils.
Steaming
Steaming is a traditional method to open the pores and flush out toxins using heat. Many salons are fading this step away, but the oxidisation during the steaming process just gives that extra step in eliminating bacteria on the skin’s surface, and prepares it for product penetration and extraction (plus it feels amazing!).
Facial Massage
Lymph movements are incorporated to increase metabolism, decongest the lymphatic system and bring relief to suffers of sinus congestion, headaches or respiratory infections. Skin conditions such as eczema and acne can be caused by the body removing toxins through the skin rather than being removed appropriately via the lymphatic system, superficial lymphatic massage helps circulate white blood cells for healing, and encourages faster and appropriate removal of internal waste.
Extraction (on request)
Extractions can cause scarring and upset the pigment cells, Melanin, if performed poorly. Hence infected areas are carefully extracted to avoid spread of infection, and fully extracted so the skin heals completely.
Electrotherapy (High Performance)
Facial electrotherapy uses machinery to enhance the effects of a facial. Each piece of equipment is tailored to suit the skin needs; for example, high frequency creates oxidisation for a germicidal effect, effectively killing bacteria without burning or damaging the skin. Note that a proper therapist can deny the equipment used if there are any contraindications such as pregnancy
Toner
Toners help maintain the skin’s healthy pH at 5.5, being slightly acidic to avoid a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Toners also hydrate and encourage absorption of cosmeceutical elements.
Mask
A customised mask will be chosen in accordance with skin concerns, which infuse active ingredients. This step is a very relaxing, slowing down thoughts and bringing the body back to homeostasis.Hot towel
Serum
A powerful balancing, hydrating, or brightening serum is dripped and quickly absorbed deep into the skin.Moisturiser & Sunscreen- The facial is finished off with intensive moisture and hydration whilst tailoring to skin concerns, with a choice of added SPF during daytime facials.
